Technology & Treatment Process

Advanced Water Treatment Technologies for Safe, Reliable Water

At Ikon Filtrations, we apply proven and industry-approved water treatment technologies to address a wide range of water quality challenges. Our systems are designed to deliver consistent, safe, and efficient performance for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.

Each treatment process is selected based on detailed water analysis, application requirements, and applicable standards.

Our Treatment Approach

Effective water treatment begins with understanding the source and its challenges. We follow a structured, engineering-driven approach to ensure reliable and sustainable solutions.

Our approach includes:

  • Raw water quality testing and analysis

  • Identification of contaminants and hardness levels

  • Selection of appropriate treatment technologies

  • System design, installation, and commissioning

  • Long-term performance monitoring and support

Reverse Osmosis Process

Reverse Osmosis (RO), also known as hyper-filtration, is one of the most effective water purification technologies available today.

How Reverse Osmosis Works

  • Water is forced under pressure through a semi-permeable membrane

  • Dissolved salts, chemicals, and impurities are rejected

  • Purified water passes through, while contaminants are flushed away

RO systems are capable of removing extremely fine particles, including dissolved solids and ions, making them suitable for potable, brackish, and industrial water treatment.

Key Benefits of RO Technology

  • Reduces Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)

  • Improves taste, clarity, and water quality

  • Removes dissolved salts and chemical impurities

  • Suitable for drinking and process applications

Ultraviolet (UV)
Disinfection Process

The Ultraviolet (UV) process is a chemical-free disinfection method used to neutralize harmful microorganisms in water.

How UV Treatment Works:

  • UV light penetrates bacteria, viruses, and pathogens

  • The DNA of microorganisms is altered

  • Pathogens lose their ability to reproduce and cause infection

UV treatment does not affect water taste, odor, or chemical composition and is commonly used as a final safety barrier in water treatment systems.

Advantages of UV Disinfection

  • Effective against bacteria and viruses

  • No chemical additives

  • Instant and continuous disinfection

  • Environmentally safe process

Impact of Water Contaminants on Human Health

Untreated or poorly treated water may contain chemical contaminants that can affect human health when present beyond safe limits. The illustration highlights how such impurities can impact different organs and systems in the body, emphasizing the importance of proper water treatment.

What the Illustration Represents

  • The human body diagram demonstrates how contaminants enter through drinking water

  • Circulatory pathways show how impurities can spread throughout the body

  • Directional labels indicate specific contaminants and their potential health effects

Key Contaminants & Their Effects

  • Fluoride: Excess fluoride may cause tooth discoloration, dental fluorosis, bone deformities, and joint problems.

  • Arsenic: Long-term exposure can lead to skin disorders and increased cancer risk.

  • Mercury & Boron: These contaminants affect the brain and nervous system, impacting neurological health.

  • Lead: Particularly harmful to children, lead can impair physical and mental development, cause anemia, and damage kidneys in adults.

  • Cadmium: Accumulates in the body over time and weakens bones, leading to skeletal issues.

  • Iron (Excess): May aggravate stomach disorders and affect water taste, color, and appearance.

  • Nitrates: Especially dangerous for infants, causing blue baby syndrome (methemoglobinemia).

  • Chloride & Sodium: High concentrations may contribute to increased blood pressure and strain on the heart and kidneys.

  • Pesticides: Linked to cancer, immune system damage, and reproductive health issues.

  • Sulphates: When combined with magnesium, may cause digestive discomfort and diarrhea.

This information is provided for awareness purposes. Health effects depend on concentration, exposure duration, and individual conditions.

Filtration & Pre-Treatment Systems

Pre-treatment systems enhance overall treatment efficiency and protect downstream equipment.

Common Pre-Treatment Methods

  • Sand filtration for suspended solids

  • Activated carbon filtration for odor, color, and chlorine removal

  • Multimedia filtration for turbidity control

Integrated Treatment Solutions

In many cases, combining multiple technologies delivers the best results.

Typical integrated systems include:

  • Softener + RO + UV for potable water

  • Filtration + RO for industrial process water

  • Filtration + Softener for boiler and cooling tower feed

Each system is customized based on water quality and application needs.
